Alex Mackay

Alex Mackay is a musician from Scotland currently based in Norway, making music from experimental approaches to electronic music, contemporary composition and instrumental performance.

Utilising synthesis, manipulated acoustic instrumentation and experimental guitar techniques to create immersive sonic environments that fuse a minimalist focus with a metallic intensity, his output as a solo artist synthesises threads from his work to date across the spectrum of experimental music; from beginnings in DIY music making, through studies in score based and electroacoustic composition, to electric guitar and electronics work, notably as a touring member of Mogwai since 2016.
